Abstract:

A total of 33 spp. of fish were identified from the north and west coasts of the Aegean Sea (Greece). Many of them, so far considered rare, were found in large numbers. Bellottia apoda is found for the 3rd time in the Mediterranean Sea. Glossanodon leioglossus, Lepidotrigla dieuzeidei, Lepidorhombus whiffiagonis and Phrynorhombus regius are recorded for the 1st time in the east Mediterranean. Chauliodus sloani, Macroramphosus gracilis, Ophichthus rufus, Epigonus denticulatus, are recorded for the 1st time in the Aegean Sea.
