Abstract: | A zoogeographical analysis at generic level of the Tenebrionidae-Pedobionta beetle-group of Turkey is presented with the following conclusions: Turkey was colonised by lineages, of African, mesogeic Mediterranean and Iranian and Central-Asiatic origin. The descendent typically Aegean genera represent a considerable part, about one-fifth. The African and Mediterranean lineages have penetrated into Turkey exclusively from the south, via Syria, the Iranian and angarian lineages from the east; there was no immigration from the west, via greece. On the topographic, eco-geographic level, Turkey should be divided into Sumerian, Iranian and East-Mediterranean provinces. The Sumerian part is strongly separated by the Taurus mountain arch; the Iranian and East-Mediterranean parts are more continuous. Their boundary can be roughly situated in the line Resadiye-Cetinkaya-Akcadag. The assignment of the eastern Turkish mountains to the Iranian province is a considerable modification of Semenov's conception. |
