Abstract:

Observations and bird ringing during summer 1973 in Thrace Greece and western and central Anatolia allowed us to extend the known breeding range of the water rail and to state the presence in August of the fieldfare in Turkey. Some comments are expressed upon the presence of migrants such as the garganey, the slender-billed curlew and the whimbrel and some breeding birds, e.g., the little tern and the house martin. A shrike, Lanius collurio phoenicuroides is a 1st record for Turkey. A Sardinian warbler ringed at the Black Sea coast was reported in March 1974 from Cyprus.
