Abstract:

The Prespa National Park has a large number of amphibian species compared to other parts of Greece and the Balkan Peninsula. This is due to the high variety of habitats, the existence of relatively large areas with shallow water around the lake and also due to the existence of mountainous habitats very close to it. In this contribution, information is given on the biology of the amphibians in the area, plus data on the distribution and habitat preferences. © 1997 Kluwer Academic Publishers.
