Abstract:

P. obscuroaenea Rosh. and P. laevifrons Kutsch., placed by Heikertinger in P. picina (Marsh.) are restored to their original status and redescribed. P. obscuroaenea reportedly has 3 forms; forma a from Spain, forma b from the Apennines and forma c from Tunisia and Sicily. P. laevifrons is reported to contain 2 ssp P. l. laevifrons from the Apennines, Maritime Alps, France, Sardinia, Corsica and possibly the Middle East and P. l. cretica from Crete and the Aegean Islands. Two new species, P. fioellae and P. feroniae from Italy, are described. All taxa are keyed and illustrated. A neotype is designated for P. picina and P. laevifrons. Lectotypes are designated for P. obscuroaenea, P. laevifrons and P. apicalis (a synonym of P. picina).
