Abstract: | Buprestis humeralis Klug, 1829, shows considerable variation in its elytral markings, from a pattern of broad bands (recorded in Israel, Cyprus and Crete) through rows of spots (Turkey, Syria, Iraq) to a complete reduction of the spots (as found in Greece). Buprestis tarsensis Marseul, 1865, and B. robertsi Cobos, 1972, agree with B. humeralis Klug in the structure of the aedeagus and apical sternite, the form of the elytral tips, size and shape, and B. tarsensis also in the shape of the male force tibia; their elytral pattern falls within the established range of variation, and they recognised as junior synonyms of B. humeralis. |
