Abstract:

The sex ratio and variation of weight structure were evaluated from 636 specimens of Mus macedonicus collected between 1983-1994 at 64 localities in northern Greece, southern Bulgaria and Macedonia. Over the year, sex ratio was approximately balanced, though females predominated considerably over males in upper weight categories. The maximum body weight attained by females also exceeded those in release. Our results for M. macedonicus were compared with the data available on usher free-living mice species of the genus Mus in the western part of the Palaearctic region.
