Abstract:

Ampedus minos sp. n. and Dima raineri sp. n. are described from the Crete and Greek Macedonia. Ampedus minos sp. n. shows close affinities with Ampedus ocellatus (Buysson), but can easily be distinguished by the antennal segments III-XI being less serrate, especially segment XI being extremely slender and parallel, the general outline of the beetle, which is less robust with bright orange-red elytra, slender pronotum and differences in the male genitalia. Dima raineri sp. n. is closely related to Dima macedonica Schimmel, but less convex, with the antennae long and slender, exceeding the pronotal hind angles by the length of 3 segments (male). The antennal joints are less thickened, segment II and III long and almost parallel. Furthermore, a new synonym is established: Ampedus fragarinus Wurst, 1995 syn. n. = Ampedus ocellatus (Buysson, 1891). Both new species are illustrated, their habitus and morphological details, and some details of the related species are figured.
